Overview

Overview

A single vineyard wine from the Coldstream Hills Estate Amphitheatre Vineyard. Made in small open fermenters followed by sixteen months oak maturation, this wine offers an array of dark cherry, blackberry and anise spice. Plush and textural, the wine is enhanced by seamless French oak and finishes with tight chalky tannins. A cracking Coldstream Hills Merlot.

“It's arms and legs at present but the componentry is very good and its future looks bright. It tastes of mulberry, briar, milk chocolate and plum, though for now it's characterised by its taut strings of tannin. Give this a few years and it'll be a mid-weight charmer.”

A cool start to the growing season was overshadowed by a warm and humid late Spring. Dry conditions prevailed throughout the summer months with gloriously warm days and cool nights. A relatively early start to the season, which was fortunately tempered by an even period of sugar and flavour development.
