Overview

Overview

Devil's Lair was founded upon ancient soils in the cool, southerly part of the Margaret River in 1980. Since then, it has built a reputation for producing wines with great clarity, delicate fruit flavours and elegant structure.

The Devil's Lair Chardonnay is sourced from estate vineyards, which are some of the most southerly in the Margaret River region.

95 points James Halliday

James Halliday

Fermented and matured in French barriques (40% new) for 9 months. Precise and focused on high quality fruit picked early to preserve natural acidity. Stone fruit and pink grapefruit easily deal with the oak. It's a style that is well established, less baroque than many, working on the less is more principle.

Viticulture

Viticulture

Above average winter rains preceded a warm and dry spring. This lead to fantastic flowering and allowed the vines to flourish with lush balanced canopies. A cool and mild growing season produced fruit with excellent depth of flavour, pristine texture and great persistence.
